Look after your family and your neighbours

Hello everyone

This blog is coming to you from Dunedin.  The girls and I have escaped for a break from the aftershocks.  We are planning to come back to Christchurch on either Tuesday  or Wednesday next week.

The PTA and I hope that you and your loved ones are safe and that you are getting through this time the best that you can.

On the day of the 6.3 earthquake/aftershock I picked up Alexandra from kindy and then went to get Jorgiana from school.  This latter trip took over an hour instead of my usual 10 minutes.  The drive to school was sombre and when i watched fellow Cantabrians driving to their destinations their emotions were etched deeply in their faces.  I was fairly shaken up and when I got to the school I was thrilled to see the kids watching a movie in the library with all the teachers there.  I personally would like to thank the teaching and administration staff for the kindness and empathy they showed towards me and all the other parents and also for the offers of somewhere to go to while I waited for David to come back from Dunedin.  This is what our school spirit is about and it was humbling to see it at work.

All fundraising initiatives are being put on hold as we (PTA) feel that there are more pressing issues that we all need to focus our energies on.

Take care and keep safe
